TELEGRAM FROM L. L. PANYUSHKIN TO…
Isgrograd
To Pozern, for Panyushkin
12 April 1919
Your delay in loading and dispatching is becoming incomprehensible. Understand that the slightest delay is criminal. No shortage of supplies can serve as an excuse. Depart at once and evacuate your military unit, come what may, without fail. [429]
— Lenin, Chairman of the Council of People’s Commissars.
1 B. P. Pozern was the Commissioner of the Petrograd Military District.
2 At the time he received this telegram, V. L. Panyushkin was stationed on the Northwestern Front (opposing General Mannerheim). In light of Kolchak’s offensive, Panyushkin was tasked with transferring his detachment to the Eastern Front.
