The Council of People's Commissars decided:

To assign social security in the amount of two thousand rubles monthly to the disabled citizen Vladimir Ivanovich Taneyev, 78 years old1*, who has worked scientifically for many years and2*, according to Karl Marx1, has shown himself to be "a devoted friend of the liberation of the people".

1K.Marx in a letter to M.M.Kovalevsky dated January 9, 1877 wrote: "Mr. Taneyev, whom you know and whom I have long respected as a devoted friend of the liberation of the people" (Marx K., Engels F. Works. 2nd ed., vol. 34, p. 185).

In addition to the establishment of the pension, the Council of People's Commissars instructed Lenin to sign a letter of protection for Taneyev. On April 26, the letter was signed by Lenin; it read: "All Soviet authorities are ordered to assist citizen Vladimir Ivanovich Taneyev in protecting himself, his family, home and property" (Decrees of Soviet power. Vol. V. M., 1971, pp. 461-462).
