CORRESPONDENCE REGARDING THE CLOSURE
OF THE OPERETTA THEATER1

[1920, January]
Are you for the operetta?
I have no idea — I've never been even once. I'm generally for closure, but I am
decidedly against the fact that first they were given firewood without our knowledge
according to Lunacharsky's notes to Ksandrov, and then they were closed through the
Council of People's Commissars, when they could be closed through the Moscow Soviet
of Workers' and Soldiers' Deputies and the Commissariat of Education.
K.
Lunacharsky was for closure.
