# NOTE ON THE LETTER
OF THE PETROGRAD PROVINCIAL COMMISSAR
FOR FOOD SUPPLY1
[21 January 1919]

Perhaps it is still possible to request that they hold it up in view of today's decisions2.

1 The Petrograd provincial food commissar, in his letter to the Military Food Supply Bureau, requested that districts be indicated and that representatives of Petrograd factory and plant organizations, being sent to the localities for the purchase of rationed products, be supplied with instructions.

2 By "today's decisions," V. I. Lenin apparently had in mind the Decree on the Procurement of Food Products, approved at a session of the Council of People's Commissars on 21 January 1919 (see "Decrees of Soviet Power," vol. IV, 1968, pp. 302–304).
