## RESOLUTION AND ANNOTATIONS ON A LETTER FROM THE VI ARMY
(NORTHERN FRONT)

**January 8, 1919**

The situation of our VI Army at the front is extremely unpleasant; the retreat of the III Army makes it even worse. In the north-eastern section of our army, that is, in the Pechora region, Czechs have appeared recently (as you probably already know from the report), under the command of Prince Vyazemsky, seeking to unite the Urals with Arkhangelsk.

We are unable to prevent this unification. Despite numerous warnings from the Northern Front and the Revolutionary Military Council of the Republic on this danger, we have so far received nothing.

And if we are not given reinforcements in time, then in a short while we shall have before us a continuous enemy front — Arkhangelsk — Perm — the Urals, and so on...

To the Revolutionary Military Council for urgent measures
