1 August 1918, No. 2
I.
LENIN’S NOTE.
And what about those reports you promised me? [in the coming days] (in about two and a half days)
volost-level reports, and so on.³
II.
POPOV’S NOTE.
I sent you certain considerations regarding the matter of accounting by volosts via letter (about eleven and a half days ago); I will submit the remaining ones once I have completed the work that became necessary in connection with the task you assigned to me.³
III.
LENIN’S RESPONSE.
X did not receive it *.
1 P. I. Popov was in charge of the Statistical Administration.
2 Justification for the date: the correspondence has been preserved alongside the minutes of the SNK’s meeting No. LB 180, held on 14 August 1918 (IMEL Archive, A1 11829).
3 On 10 August 1918, Lenin wrote to A. Tsurupa: “Urgently order Popov to prepare the following: volost-level allocations—namely, how much surplus grain each volost is required to supply, and how much each volost must contribute?” (see Lenin Collection, Volume XVII, p. 145).
4 Also on this correspondence is a query from V. D. Bonch-Bruevich, Manager of Affairs at the SNK, addressed to the Secretariat: “Please urgently ascertain whether the package intended for Vl. Il. from the Statistical Administration (Comrade Popov) has been received—and if so, where it is.”
