INSTRUCTION TO D. I. KURSKY

[December 20, 1918]
To Kursky.
I request that you immediately appoint an investigation
into this matter.

Lenin
1 D. I. Kursky — People's Commissar of Justice.
2 The instruction was written on a telegram from the “head of the V. I. Lenin train” G. V. Skolditsky, sent from the hospital of the Butyrka prison. Skolditsky explained the reason for his arrest by the fact that he, not knowing the railway rules, put the train on the first track at the Arzamas station. Addressing V. I. Lenin, he asks for release, restoration of justice and legality.

NOTE TO F. E. DZERZHINSKY
[1918]
Comrade Dzerzhinsky!
The attached documents are being printed tomorrow
1.
Wouldn’t you consider it useful to make arrests tonight at the
indicated address, i.e., in the district committee? Perhaps you could
find threads and connections of counter-revolutionaries; especially
important is the fact that here (perhaps for the first time) there is an official certificate of connection between the shooters and the party of Socialist-Revolutionaries.
Lenin
1 What documents are in question has not been established.

Lenin sent a telegram to the Suzdal district executive committee on January 12, 1919, demanding a strict verification of the work of the barrier detachments and the Extraordinary Commission in Gavrilov Posad (see Poln. sobr. soch., vol. 50, p. 242).
