* In a telegram of 7 December, the Commander-in-Chief wrote to V. I. Lenin: “Our formations… are experiencing a very dangerous and serious crisis due to the absence of food, clothing and arms… It must be borne in mind that our formations are already exactly one month behind schedule and the front is in great need of them at present. We must take all measures to speed up the readiness for the march of all our formations.”
