By a resolution adopted at the meeting of the Council of People’s Commissars on June 20 of this year, the VSNKh was instructed, in conjunction with the Commission of Justice, to conduct an investigation into the matter of agricultural machinery and supply. The VSNKh had been duly informed of this directive.
Given that the investigation has not yet been completed, I propose to accelerate the work and bring the inquiry to a close within one week.

1. The letter to the VSNKh, signed by Lenin, has been preserved in a typewritten copy.
2. On June 20, 1918, at a meeting of the SNK, following a report from the Commission on the Fund for Financing Agricultural Machinery and Supply (see p. 119 of the Collection), the following resolution was adopted: “a) Given that state control must serve as a combat-ready organ for uncovering crimes, combating them, and devising practical measures to address recklessness and mismanagement—The Council of People’s Commissars hereby points out to the State Control Commission that, in this particular case, it has drawn incorrect and insufficient conclusions from…” * The text continues: “Secretary of the Council (signature).” Ed.
