* The note was written by V. I. Lenin on a letter from the head of the bureau
for supplying the North Caucasus Military District to the naval collegium,
in which he asked to deliver to the Caspian Sea and the Kura River "8-10 vessels
with motor engines of the 'Nixon' type or guard boats of the 'Stationar' type... The boats should have 37 mm, 47 mm guns and
machine guns. It is necessary," the letter said, "to supply the boats with spare
parts for the motors, from the more worn and broken ones. For
the Kura, the draft of the vessel is 4 feet, no more... The vessels should be sent
urgently at the disposal of the naval department of the Baku
Council of People's Commissars."
