1. We inform you that the general meeting of members of the Simbirsk Chuvash National Society, with representatives of the *uyezd* executive committees of the Chuvash present, has spoken against the candidacy of Yakovlev for the post of chairman of the Chuvash Seminary. The candidacy of Yakovlev has **not** been dismissed by the Commissariat of Education.  

In the elections of the pedagogical council, **Afanasyev was elected chairman**. Yakovlev remained chairman of the women’s courses at the seminary. **The elections have been confirmed.** Documents have been sent by mail—5617.

Lenin**'s telegram of April 20, 1918, addressed to the chairman of the Simbirsk Sovdep, inquiring about the conditions and circumstances of the election of the chairmen of the Chuvash women’s and men’s teacher seminaries and the fate of inspector **I. Ya. Yakovlev**, who had worked for 50 years for the national advancement of the Chuvash people and endured persecution under tsarism (see **V. I. Lenin**, *Poln. sobr. soch.*, vol. 50, p. 61).
