“You will have read in L… the speech delivered by N. in K.’s electoral district. He rightly laments that the Party is becoming increasingly bourgeois—va s’embourgeoissant. This is the misfortune of all extreme parties once the moment approaches when they are “likely” to come into power. But our Party cannot, in this regard, cross a certain threshold without betraying itself—and it seems to me that we have reached that threshold both in France and in Germany. Fortunately, there is still time to put a stop to this” (emphasis added by Engels) (p. 426).
