Only now, at 3¼ in the afternoon on July 7, have I learned that my apartment was subjected to a search last night, conducted, against the protests of my wife, by armed men who did not present a written order. I hereby express my protest against this and request that the Bureau of the CIK investigate this direct violation of the law.

At the same time, I consider it my duty to confirm officially and in writing what, I am certain, could not have been doubted by any member of the CIK, namely: that in the event of a government order for my arrest and the confirmation of this order by the CIK, I shall appear at the place designated to me by the CIK for my arrest.
