«BERNER TAGWACHT»
R. Grimm. «Majority and Minority in the Military Question»
Berner Tagwacht 26. 1. 1917.
IV. Grimm’s Article on Majority and Minority.
...«Switzerland is not an imperialist state in the sense of the surrounding powers. As a state, it is an object, not a subject of imperialism. There are entanglements of imperialist interests, but it would be ridiculous to assert that Switzerland, independently or relying on any other state, could pursue a policy of territorial conquests. While other capitalist states have certain military goals even in peacetime and, if you will, from the point of view of the bourgeoisie, a military ideal, Switzerland in this respect has no other ideal than the protection of its neutrality».

...«that fortunately existing in our country also, so-called "swamp," the alleged party center»... .

«BASLER VORWÄRTS» «Social Democratic Party Assembly» «Basler Vorwärts». January 26, 1917. Social Democratic Party Assembly. On the proposal of Comrade Schneider, the following resolution is adopted by a significant majority:
«The assembly takes note of the decision of the board of the Swiss party to postpone the convocation of the congress and recognizes the reasons given as valid; however, it expresses the wish that the congress be convened no later than July 1, 1917 if possible. At the same time, the assembly expresses a strong protest against the unprofessional and factually incorrect justification for the convocation of the congress... on Easter 1917 by the initiative movement staged by an irresponsible committee. Party members are invited to refuse to sign the initiative sheets».
(ibidem/ 16. 1.)
— Against the postponement: «I think there is no need to postpone such a burning issue because several candidates for cantonal councils, and possibly for the National Council, risk not being elected»... (not "reform," but "socialist party"...): sacrifices are inevitable.
Editorial note: This, they say, is written by a comrade from the youth union. Roughly and sharply against him: we will remain the "Partei des Proletariats," even if the Social Democracy accepts the defense of the fatherland!! (sic!).
The proposal to postpone the congress was made by: Grimm, Rimaté, Studer, Münch, Lang — Zürich (!!), Schneider — Basel, Keel — St. Gallen and Schnurrenberger (!sic!).
Attack against "revolutionary phrases," against military strike, etc.
(the Italians are an example).

HOLZARBEITER «DER STURM NAHT»
Holzarbeiter. 27. 1. 1917.
Translation: «Der Sturm naht» — despite the somewhat naive wording of the general strike and its appointment to 1. IV. 1917, an excellent revolutionary response to mobilization, high cost of living, etc.
NB also the wild swearing against this article in the «Grütlianer».
