Kriegsgefangenensendung. Herrn Andrey Sinicin. Bataillon 1. Kompagnie 3. Barake 17. № 3/2475. Mannschaftsgefangenenlager Alten-Grabow. Deutschland.

28/XII. 1916

Dear Comrade! We have received your letter1 with news about Roman Malinovsky and a friendly greeting. I heartily thank you on behalf of both myself and Nadezhda Konstantinovna!

I am very glad that Malinovsky managed to obtain permission for the work trip. I think it is pleasant and beneficial for him to get a change, especially given his overwork.

News about the work and the cheerful mood of the prisoners, despite everything, greatly cheers us. Many thanks to you and all our friends.

We can do little in terms of literature, but we do what we can.

From Petersburg, we have pleasant news about the mood and work of the workers of our party. There are large strikes2 in Petersburg, and we will publish material on this in the next issue of "Social-Democrat."

I hope you have already received "The Social-Democrat Collection," No. 1 and No. 2?3

We send you and all our friends a firm, firm handshake, and ask you to pass this letter on to Malinovsky or to tell him about it if there is no other way.

Yours, V. Ulyanov.

1 This refers to the letter from A. Sinitsyn to V.I. Lenin dated November 18 (December 1) 1916, in which he reported on the receipt of Lenin's letter to R.V. Malinovsky, who had gone to work (the letter has not been found), and on the interest of the prisoners of war in the literature received from the Bern Committee for Aid to Exiles, etc. (see: RGASPI, f. 17, op. 1, d. 1717).

2 This refers to the mass political strike of the workers of the Vyborg Side, supported by soldiers of the 181st Infantry Regiment, October 17-21 (October 30 - November 3) 1916, and the political strike on October 26 (November 8) 1916, timed to coincide with the trial of the Kronstadt sailors and soldiers of the 181st Infantry Regiment.
