14.XI.1916

Dear Roman Vatslavovich, I have not heard from you. Nadia and I wrote to you in the fall1 and explained the misunderstanding into which you (and we) had fallen. We thought (on the basis of your spring letter) that you had gone to work, and we were all waiting for your new address. It turned out - we only found out in the fall - that you had not left.

We are now living again in Zurich2; the library is better here. And Nadia has also got a small income here, which we needed very much. Nadia is getting sicker and sicker with her bazoodle disease.

We have published one number of the "Sbornik, Sotsial-Demokrata "3 and one number of the newspaper4. I hope you have already received them.

I regret very much that you have not been able to go to work - farming or factory work - it would probably have been useful and pleasant. Well, nevertheless, don't lose heart! Endure it! I think that your studies, lectures, etc., will make your difficult life easier.

Times are hard everywhere. And the prices are so damn expensive!

Hello to all your friends! Write, though, at least from time to time.

Your V. Ulyanov.

Nadia sends her greetings too.
