21/IX. Dear Grigory!

It is very ugly about "The Wave "1: Stark has been campaigning against Alexander, they are poisoning "Voprosy [Issues] of Construction "2 and intriguing against the Bureau3. Whether they will print the collection4 or not is unknown, but it is true that your consent to be published will be used to disorganize the work. Perhaps you could make inquiries through Gladnev? I wrote to Jems at one time, but yesterday I received news that Jems was arrested, so you can't find out anything that way. It's true Mania received the letter, but we don't know if he's aware of the case.

We have received an issue of "Prikubanskie Steppe" (No. 12)5, an awful gray paper, the front page praises the Samara "Our Voice "6 and then an article about Liebknecht says that he only wanted peace, the end of the war, but was not a defeatist.

We also received No. 1 of the newspaper "Nachalo "7* (Kharkov). Participants: S. Yurin, Y. Galina, S., N. Yakovlev, Koval, T. Ivanovsky, N. Stroev, A. Alexandrov, I. H. Gorsky. It is completely colorless, liberally colorless, mottled with white spots. There is only a letter from Alexandria with a wish that the paper should stand on Zimmerwald's point of view.

We have also received two issues of the Samara "Golos "8, books by Ermansky9, Deborin10, Avilov11, "Letopis "12 and "Russkie Zapiski "13.

I have written to Grisha once before14, but he still does not answer who this Menshevik is who wants to publish a newspaper. I will write again about everything.

All greetings to the whole family.

N.K.1*.

I am sending sheets of my letter to Bakharin15. I agree. Leave a copy without fail.

What article by Kollontai? And where?

Nothing from Alexndr and Ludmila.

I'm sending the correct of Radek's theses16. I think the translation is good!

1 "Wave" - a publishing house in St. Petersburg, organized in May 1916 with the participation of L.N.Stark. In a letter dated June 12, 1916 (sg.st.) Stark proposed to Zinoviev and Lenin to cooperate with the publishing house. Lenin advised caution, as Stark was suspected in 1914 of collaborating with the police (suspicions were not confirmed), and the political face of the publishing house was not precisely known.

3The Bureau of the Central Committee of the RSDLP in Russia (Russian Bureau, Russian Collegium of the Central Committee) was formed of members of the Central Committee of the RSDLP who worked directly in Russia. Due to the arrests of its members at the beginning of World War I, it temporarily stopped its work. It was restored in 1915. It ceased its activities after the election of a new Central Committee of the RSDLP at the VII (April) All-Russian Party Conference in 1917.
