24/VII. 1916.

Dear M. N.! G. Z. writes to me that you have received my letter, but the manuscript has not arrived (i.e., you do not write about it). It was sent simultaneously with a registered letter on July 2nd, by registered parcel post. If it has not been received, what is to be done? You probably cannot make inquiries. I could through the post, but that would take an awfully long time. Rewrite it again? (perhaps in two copies and send one through Sweden, so it would be more certain?). Everything I have is completely censurable, so I do not understand at all on what grounds or how this could have happened. Please write at once or send a telegram. Best regards!

Yours, V. Ulyanov in Sceaux (Seine) (France)
