"The Dragonfly" in any case must be dropped, because 1) it hasn't come out; 2) we must wait (because this is not only Trotsky, but plus "La Vie Ouvriere"*: for them this could be progress) 257.

3) We will take Trotsky better in the "Miscellany of the 'Social-Democrat'"; we need to take him up more thoroughly.

Salut. Lenin

Be sure to send the theses personally to Grimm (it would be good to invite him for a discussion about this).

I am still thinking over one more insertion in the theses. Let me know in advance when they will be set in type.

APPENDIX TO THE LETTER

Otto Rühle and Karl Liebknecht

Rühle in the "Vorwarts" of 12/I. 1916 openly came out for a split in the party. Liebknecht in a speech on 16/III 1916 in the Prussian Landtag directly called upon "those fighting in the trenches" to "lay down their arms and turn against the common enemy," for which he was denied the floor. — Which Russian Social-Democrats, then, have shown "factionalism": those who upheld the only consistently Bolshevik slogans of civil war and a break with opportunism? or those who denied the obvious correctness of these slogans, to which the course of events leads internationalists in all countries?

The appendix to the letter was first published on March 25, 1916 in the newspaper "Social-Democrat"
