[March 19, 1916]

Dear friend! Today we received your angry postcard and answered it (or rather, answered not only it) with a long letter. Still, even when angry, one should not write harsh words like "confused" (in letters): this does not dispose [one] toward continuing correspondence. If we did not answer one of your questions, you should repeat (but you did not repeat) the question clearly. Your letters are read mostly by four people (in two families), so if one person doesn't notice a question or forgets, then mostly another won't forget and will notice, etc.

I have not seen the novel by two authors (it seems to have come out in Petrograd).¹ In any case, since it came out, it is clear that your influence (in your letters to Petrograd) bore fruit. I congratulate you from the bottom of my heart on the success, and wish you the same in the future.

Friendly shake hands!

Your Lenin

¹ We are speaking of the brochure "Socialism and War (Attitude of the RSDLP to the War)," published in Paris in French (see V. I. Lenin. Complete Coll. Works, vol. 26, pp. 307-350). G. E. Zinoviev participated in the work on the brochure. However, the brochure was written mainly by V. I. Lenin. He also edited the brochure overall.
