31. Capitalism without imperialism?

(Look back?)

32. Theoretically (abstractly) it is possible even without colonies etc.

33. As with a 4-hour working day, 3000 workers minimum…

ad 33 "Capitalism can develop without imperialism, without wars, without colonies, with complete freedom of trade."

Yes?

Capitalism can produce tens of billions not for war, but for aid to paupers and workers, thereby perpetuating the domination of the capitalist class!

Theoretically identical propositions. "Coercive pressure of the working class and humanitarian measures of the bourgeoisie." But that is precisely the point — such things cannot be compelled by pressure in general; what is needed is pressure backed by the actual force of revolution. And revolution and counter-revolution will sharpen the struggle to something more fundamental.

The question reduces itself to the struggle for reforms. This struggle is lawful and necessary within certain limits, viz.[56]:

1) the absence of a revolutionary situation; – 2) the partial character of improvements, without sharpening the class struggle to the point of revolution. —

34. Why? Because of the horrors of war? (and the terrible profits?)

Because of pressure from the proletariat?

(and the betrayal of opportunism?)

35. Peace without annexations, disarmament etc. etc.

"Destruction of secret diplomacy"?

* "Utopia or hell"? Editor.

36. The struggle for reforms?

Yes. – Its limits.

Particular.

The epoch of reforms, the absence of a revolutionary situation.

That is the crux of the matter.
