DR. JOHANN PLÖNGET. "MARX AND HEGEL"
TÜBINGEN, 1911
Plenge cannot understand how "materialism" is combined with revolutionary spirit (calling it "idealism," etc.) and gets angry at his own misunderstanding!!!
A good example of how bourgeois professors vulgarize the foundations of Marxism, its theoretical foundations!! Ad notam* for imperialist economists 201 and Co.!!
The theoretical aspect of dialectics is not noticed!!
After a pretentious preface about how I, I, I "read" Hegel and Marx - follows an outline of Hegel's "teaching," extremely superficial (idealism is not distinguished from "speculation," very little is grasped; still, there is something good in this outline compared to Kantianism, etc.) - then comes a directly nonsensical "critique" of Marx.
Marx = "ideologue"...
Marx is accused of "pure ideology" when he means by the "real" proletariat the representative of the class.
!
"A crude language of a renegade who has resolutely renounced
all idealism... or the ideal demand of a political enthusiast: such is the reality of Karl Marx" (81-82).
"nur"**!!
"It is quite strange that this radical Jewish doctor knew only one universal remedy for all social forms in need of treatment throughout his life: criticism and
political struggle" (56).
extremely vulgar!

FROM "NOTEBOOKS ON IMPERIALISM"
... Marx's historical materialism is in fact "nothing more than
a pathetic gesture," "an extremely rationalistic doctrine," "at its deepest level, an idealistic view of society," etc., etc. ... (83).
Marx!!
"did not understand"
Hegel
97 and others.
... "agitational motives"... (84) (id. 86, 92, etc.) (115, etc.).
Marx adopted "this natural-scientific empiricism" (88), "Marx naturalizes
the science of society" (ib.).
... "His" (Marx's) "path is not that of a thinker, but... a prophet of freedom"... !!! (94-95).
Socialist revolution = subjective hope, to present it as "objective scientific knowledge" "is a degenerate charlatanism, the illusion of a dreamer in a state of ecstasy" (p. 110).
!!
... "In Marx... the passionate will of a radical apostle of freedom dominated"... (111).
!!
Marx, "agitationally whipping up all instincts of hatred"... (115).
inde ira!!* "Marxism... becomes the ethics of abstractly negative, fanatical enthusiasm" (like Islam according to Hegel!)... (120).
... "The fanatical temperament of Marx" (and his "hot head") - this is the essence
(120).
And so on, vulgar nonsense!
Where is this quote from? The author did not indicate.
"Without revolution, socialism cannot be realized. It needs this
political act, since it needs destruction and disintegration. But where
its organic activity begins, where its self-purpose reveals its
soul, there socialism sheds its political shell."
NB
NB

* - hence the anger!! Ed.

- After quoting this, without indicating the source, Plenge continues: "The 'political shell' that falls away, of course, is all of Marxism" (129).
How Plenge finds "contradictions": Marx, it seems, wrote in the "Rheinische Zeitung" 202: "The same spirit that builds railways with the hands of industry, builds philosophical systems in the brain of the philosopher" (p. 143). And then these means of production emancipate themselves from the spirit that created them and sovereignly determine the spirit.
Example of Plenge's critique of the theory of surplus value*:
"With its crude exaggeration, it most incitingly highlights the harsh fact of capitalism, that the pursuit of profit lowers wages and worsens working conditions. But it suffers from an elementary error of doubling concepts, veiled by the terminology used"... (157).
... "Driven by agitational need, the inciting theory of surplus value
is placed in the most prominent position in the entire system"... (164).
... "Marx - a revolutionary Jew of the 19th century, who refashioned
the borrowed garment of our great philosophy for his own purposes" (171).
This Plenge is extremely vulgar, 0 - the scientific value of his book.
Written no later than June 1916.
