[November, not earlier than 13, 1914]

Dear Comrade!

At last I managed to find the issue of *Sentinelle* with a brief summary of our manifesto. Please return it after use.

Can such a thing be printed in German? This question should clarify the conditions of your (i.e., your journal's) legality.

Best regards!
Your Lenin

¹ *La Sentinelle* ("The Sentinel")—newspaper, organ of the Swiss Social-Democratic organization of the canton of Neuchâtel (French Switzerland); founded in 1890. During the first world war, the newspaper took an internationalist position. On November 13, 1914 in No. 265 of the newspaper was printed in abbreviated form the manifesto of the CC RSDLP "War and Russian Social-Democracy."

² We are speaking of the monthly journal *Lichtstrahlen* ("Rays of Light")—organ of the group of left social-democrats of Germany ("International Socialists of Germany"). The journal was published irregularly from 1913 to 1921 in Berlin.
