[Translation.]
Dear Comrades!
A few days ago, regarding my lecture on war and socialism, delivered in Zurich, "Vorwärts" published a brief notice which gives a completely distorted impression of it. The notice creates the impression as though I limited myself to a polemic against the autocracy. In reality, being convinced that it is the duty of the socialists of every country to wage a relentless struggle against the chauvinism and patriotism of their *own* (and not only the enemy) country, I sharply attacked the autocracy and, in this connection, spoke of the freedom of Ukraine. But the meaning of my reasoning is completely distorted if not a word is mentioned that I spoke of the collapse of the Second International, of opportunism, and against the position of the German and Austrian Social Democracy. Nine-tenths of my two-hour lecture were devoted to this criticism.
I would be very much obliged if you could publish these indicated additions in "Vorwärts" (or...).¹
With Social-Democratic greetings...

Dear Comrades!
Vorwärts recently carried a misleading notice about the lecture I held in Zurich on War and Socialism. The notice creates the impression as if I had limited myself to a polemic against Tsarism. In reality, in accordance with my conviction that it is the duty of the socialists of every country to wage a relentless struggle against the chauvinism and patriotism of their own (and not only the opposing) country, I sharply attacked Tsarism and in this connection spoke of the freedom of Ukraine. The meaning of my arguments is, however, falsified if not a word is mentioned of what I said about the collapse of the Second International, of opportunism and against the stance of the German and Austrian Social Democracy: nine-tenths of my two-hour lecture were devoted to this criticism.
I would be obliged to you if you would publish this corrective addition in Vorwärts (resp...).
With Social-Democratic greetings.
