Dear friend!2*

Now received the report for Saturday1 and about voting of the puffy resolution of the final one (there is no moresic disagreement in tacts and general congress and organization etc2). Thank you3*. You and all of you held up marvelously. The Poles (opposition3) betrayed the bastards, obviously because of Malecki (his speech is despicable!!4).

The sneaky Poles (opposition) also dragged the "weak" (stupid) Lithuanian5.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Otherwise it would have been:

we have them

2 (us and Latvians)6_9

+ RSDRF7_2

+ PSD (opposition) _7

+ Litosis 1 leftosis pps8

------------------------------ --------------------------

=5 =6

{Plekhanov + Alexinskii} fictions

We could have even more!!!! Well, I'll settle accounts with the Poles! You had a marvelous time. Many, many thanks4*! Write immediately (on a special sheet)5* what exactly you said about our party congress9:

a) that it will be held at the same time as the Vienna one (since it is in the report of Kamskogo10

b) - or that it will be (and if the arrests prevent it, then the heference) either univocally with Wenski or immediately after - I remember that I wrote the second (b),

Of course, this is in no way your fault. But nevertheless, for the Central Committee, write on a special sheet of paper, signed by you, exactly as you said.

Was it said precisely that we ask you not to print or speak about the congress of our party? If so, in what terms?

Many, many thanks & greetings! Yours truly W.I.6*

Excuse7* the rush: extremely busy8*.

It is extremely important to know as precisely as possible which parts of the report ("lu partiellement "9* as you telegraphed) have been read.

It is necessary to note precisely from the manuscript: this and that were read, this and that were not.

What has been forgotten (not sure if it has been read) should be noted in particular?

From what place to what place (in the report) were the quatorze10* read? Up to the conclusion] and the end, including it, or not?

Are the inserts read (1) about the demonstration of 4.IV.191411?

(2) about "Unity "12and in which version (((I was a fool to advise to soften against this scoundrel Plekhanov!!!)))).

Exactly what statistical data are entered and with what comments11*.

(1) table of contributions from labor groups from 1.1. to 13.V15?

(2) also about the Bund14?

(3) "Objective] datas" from Pravda13?

(4) what else

What was the wording of the end of condition 1, i.e. the paragraph of the ogruppe of "Nashaya Zarya" and "Nasha Rabochaya Gazeta "14? Was it in the old or new way? Is there no blackness of the read text?

NBAnswer!!!

Take immediate and hasty measures to get written mandates for the kongress of our party (respective conference12*).

(1) From the Komittee of the 3[border] organization].

12* Our party (or conference) congress (ang.)

1Shortly after the closing of the Brussels "unification" meeting on July 5 (18), 1914 (see doc. 72, note 1), a member of the Bolshevik delegation, M.F.Vladimirskii, sent V.I.Lenin the protocol notes of the meetings of the meeting made by him and other members of the delegation, draft statements, letters (RCCHIDNI, f. 2, op. 1, d. 23839; see also: Voprosy istorii CPSU, 1959, no. 5, pp. 152-163). After familiarizing himself with these materials, Lenin wrote the published letter.

2The preamble of the "preliminary conditions" for the unification of the RSDLP, worked out by the International Socialist Bureau (ISB), is mentioned (see: RCCHIDNI, f. 2, op. 1, d. 23839, fol. 49).

3They mean Ya.S. Ganetskii and A.M. Maletskii.

4Referring to A.M. Maletsky's speech at a meeting of the ISB on July 4 (17), 1914. Accusing the IRB of insufficient attention to the question of the unification of the RSDLP, he at the same time rejected the 14 conditions of unification worked out by the Central Committee of the RSDLP (see: Lenin V.I. Complete Collected Works, vol. 25, pp. 384-391), saying: "This is not the way to achieve unity" (RCCHIDNI, f. 2, op. 1, d. 23839, fol. 21).

5 V.S. Mitskevich-Kapsukas.

6I.F.Armand and Y.A.Berzin.

7The representative of the Russian Social-Democratic Workers' Faction of the Fourth State Duma, G.I.Petrovsky, who was unable to come to the meeting, "sent a telegram that he acceded to the conditions worked out by the Central Committee". However, his vote was not counted (see: RCCHIDNI, f. 17, op. 1, d. 1539, l. 1-2).

8It means G. Valetsky.

9The next Congress of the RSDLP and the Vienna Congress of the II International did not take place because of the outbreak of the First World War.
