Dear friend!

I am always very busy now & worried with the same story of Malinowsky. He is here1& it is very hard to see him - so useless & helpless now. And the liquidators] continue their infamous campaign of slander & chantage. Wiring with Brother & small misunderstandings with him do not cease. Generally he is very good, excellent - but exceptionally in such crisis he is from time to time a little too weak. The liquidators] have published (if we understood rightly the wire news) that we knew oui (yes, of course - Fr. - Ed.) dire (rumors) about political improbity2* (dishonesty) of Malinovsky!!!!

Indeed, we heard them from the Viennese, (liquidators) who were blabbering, - but we, of course, dismissed them, having made a collegion of 3 members of the Central Committee2. And the liquidators!!! Who did you contribute to?

Well, the workers have already asked and will ask the dirty slanderers!

We send you a new newspaper3.

If possible, do not be angry against me. I have caused you a great pain, I know it....

Yours truly W.U.

After your depart from Paris3*- you can't get anywhere there! What a bunch of people!

Fund 2, op. 1, d. 3281 - autograph.

1* On the letter there is a note I.F.Armand: "June 7, 1914", on the basis of which the letter is dated

2* Dear friend! I am now very busy and concerned about the same story with Malinovsky. He is here1* and it is very difficult to look at him, in such a bad mood and helpless. And the liquidators continue their shameful campaign of slander and blackmail. Have been in touch with Brother by telegraph - but minor misunderstandings with him still remain. He is actually a very kind and decent man, but sometimes, as in this crisis situation, he is indecisive at times. The liquidators published (if we understood the telegram correctly) that we knew, of course, something terrible (rumors) about political dishonesty.

3* If possible don't be angry with me. I have caused you much pain, I know that..... Devoted to you W.W. After your departure from Paris.

1R.V.Malinovsky arrived in Poronin on May 15 (28), 1914.

2V.I.Lenin is referring to the investigative commission of the Central Committee of the RSDLP to investigate R.V.Malinovsky's accusations of provocateurism.

3Referring to the newspaper Rabochy, the first issue of which appeared on April 22 (May 5), 1914, with the subtitle "Rabochaya Gazeta".
