To Maria Ilyinichna Ulyanova. Moskovskaya Street, Samarin Building, Apt. 3. Vologda. Russia. Vologda
16/II. 1914.

Dear Manyasha! I recently returned from a trip (I was, among other things, in Paris — reading on the national question) 324 and have not been able to gather myself to write.

How are you getting on? When does your term expire?

How is mother's health? Has she recovered completely?

It has been a long time since I had any news from Mark and Mitya. I know nothing of their life and plans.

Everything with us is as before. We are living along as we can. Nadia, it seems, is having a recurrence of Basedow's disease — so far there are weak signs, but there are some. It may be that in the spring we will have to take her for another operation again... But this is still not certain, and it is better for now not to write to her. I am in perfect health. E. V. is also in fine form.

I press your hand firmly. Kiss mother for me, more tenderly.

Your V. U.
