# TO D. WAINKOP

Krakow, 12 January 1914.

Dear Comrade Wainkop!

I thank you most heartily for your kind letter. I hope that you have read in the German Social-Democratic newspapers (*Vorwärts* and *Leipziger Volkszeitung*) the articles by our opponents (for example, J. K. — from Rosa Luxemburg’s group — and Z. L., who represents no group in Russia, — in the *Leipziger Volkszeitung*). The German Social-Democratic press is boycotting us, especially *Vorwärts*, and only the *Leipziger Volkszeitung* printed

** — simplification. Ed.

one of our articles (signed by the editorial board of *Sotsial-Demokrat*, the Central Organ of the Russian Social-Democratic Labour Party)*.

In the *Bremer Bürger-Zeitung*, Radek writes on Russian affairs. Yet Radek also represents no group in Russia! It is ridiculous to print articles by émigrés who represent nothing, and not to accept articles from representatives of organisations that exist in Russia!

And Kautsky’s position — can there be anything more idiotic? With regard to all other countries, he studies the history of the movement, criticises documents, strives to understand the true meaning of disagreements, the political significance of splits. With regard to Russia, history does not exist for Kautsky. Today he repeats what he heard from Rosa Luxemburg, yesterday he repeated what he heard from Trotsky, Ryazanov and other literati who represent only their own “good wishes”, tomorrow he will start repeating what other Russian students or émigrés deign to tell him, etc. And in *Neue Zeit*!! commonplaces, declamations, no facts, no conception of the essence of the questions on which we diverge!! This is purest childishness!!

They preach unity to us with the liquidators of our party — this is absurd. Unity is being realised by us, rallying the workers of Russia against the liquidators of our party.

I enclose herewith a document with which we acquainted the members of the International Socialist Bureau. You will find there facts, figures, proving that it is precisely we who represent the unity of the party (and of the vast majority of the workers) in Russia against the liquidator groups without workers.

Unfortunately, even Pannekoek in the *Bremer Bürger-Zeitung* does not wish to understand that it is necessary to print articles of the two Social-Democratic currents of Russia, and not articles by Radek, who represents only his personal ignorance and his fantasies and does not wish to communicate precise facts.
