On the very same day when declarations from 6 deputies appeared in the newspapers,[12] on one side, and from their opponents on the other, the liquidationist newspaper (in no. 60) hastened to the defense of the 7 deputies by putting forward as an argument the consideration that behind the seven deputies there stands no fewer workers' votes than behind the six.

In our newspaper (no. 13) at that time there appeared data that completely knocked the liquidationists off their position and fundamentally destroyed the significance of the "argument" they had put forward.

These data speak to the number of workers in the gubernias that sent S.D. deputies to the Duma, and give a clear picture of which part of the S.D. faction has behind it more, and even by how much more, workers' votes.

Here are these data:

Since deputy Yagelló does not belong to the number of 7 deputies, inasmuch as he does not belong to the S.D. and does not have a decisive voice in the question of the relationship between the 6 and 7 deputies, and moreover, was elected to the Duma against the wishes of the majority of workers' electors in Warsaw, the number of workers in Warsaw gubernia cannot be counted into the number of workers' votes standing behind the 7 deputies.

Thus it turns out that of 1 million 144 thousand, to the 7 deputies falls only 136 thousand, or 11.8 percent, or about one-tenth, and to the 6 deputies 1 million 8 thousand, or 88.2 percent, or about nine-tenths.

The categorical assertion of the liquidationists about the equality of workers' votes proved to be completely refuted.

What then do they answer to this?

Their answer deserves being repeated in full, and it can only be explained by the hopelessness of their position.

"Leaving aside the question of the correctness and significance of these figures, we ascertain…," says Mr. F. in no. 61 of the *Novaya Rabochaya Gazeta*.

You gentlemen spoke of the number of workers' votes, you were presented with figures, and you leave them aside.

Hardly had he said this when in the next issue (no. 62) there appears an assertion before which one can only throw up one's hands.

"Concerning the arithmetic aspect of this assertion our newspaper expressed itself yesterday."

To leave aside means to "express oneself." For what simpletons are the gentlemen liquidationists calculating?

In adducing the figures indicated, which the liquidationists have not refuted, we said not a word about the special significance in our electoral system of those gubernias from which the 6 workers' deputies were elected. Disconcerted by the facts, the liquidationists attempt to speak of special privileges granted by the law of June 3rd to the 6 deputies, of our obeisance before the Stolypin curiae, of the fact that we consider only the 6 deputies to be S.D. deputies, and so forth.

Such assertions have a very definite, though not flattering name… We shall not sully ourselves!..

The number of workers in the gubernias remains the same. Comparison of them is both possible and necessary.

German Social Democracy counts its electoral successes despite the fact that women there are deprived of the right to vote.

All this is so clear and simple that one must wonder whom the liquidationists are calculating to confuse with their "arguments."
