Dear Georgy Valentinovich! On behalf of six Social-Democratic deputies, I am addressing you with a proposal to come for a few weeks in the summer to Zakopane to deliver lectures

on those questions of Marxism and the Social-Democratic movement which you might choose. We are informed today from Piter that it is also possible for four deputies who support the liquidators or are wavering (Buryanov, Tulyakov, Khaustov and, perhaps, even Mankov) to come. As Mensheviks, they naturally attach particular importance to the question of your participation.

We, for our part, would consider it very useful for Party members of different views to take part in an undertaking which we regard as extremely important for strengthening ties with the workers and consolidating Party work.

In view of the conspiratorial nature of the matter, we have decided not to inform any émigré group about the plan for arranging lectures — the more so as the deputies will probably be subjected to specially severe persecution.

Poronin, where the lectures are supposed to be read, is 7 kilometres by rail from Zakopane — one of the best mountain resorts in Galicia. As for the financial aspect of the affair (covering travelling expenses), we can correspond separately, should the need arise.

Please drop me a line as to whether you agree to this proposal.

Yours faithfully, N. Lenin

My address: Herrn Wl. Ulianow.
