Dear Comrades! Allow me first to congratulate you on the tremendous improvement in the running of the newspaper, which is evident in the last few days. I congratulate and wish you further success on this path. The other day I sent the first two articles "The Growing Discrepancy"* From No. 234 of Pravda, I see clearly that these articles will not be suitable.

Therefore, please send them without delay to Prosveshcheniye, where I am sending the conclusion. Please also send there any other unpublished articles (the reply to Maevsky; on morality; Bulgakov on the peasants 186 - articles by Bulgakov from Russkaya Mysl and so on). I very much ask you to respond as soon as possible whether this has been done. Send Nos. 7, 8, 21, and 24 of Luch and No. 25 of Pravda. I used to receive Pravda every morning, as I now receive Rech and Novoye Vremya. But for the last week, Pravda has been arriving only in the evening. Clearly, the distribution office is sending it carelessly. I very much ask you to take measures and ensure more punctual daily delivery.

I am not receiving any new books at all. It is necessary to take measures: a) to obtain them from publishers under the condition of an advance payment, b) to obtain Duma and official publications through deputies. It is absolutely impossible to work without books... I do not have Zavety or Russkaya Molva. They are indispensable. Especially needed is the issue of Russkaya Molva where they wrote about Luch and explained that the Mensheviks are against the underground 187. On March 1 (14), it will be 30 years since Marx's death. It would be good to publish a supplement for two or three kopecks, four pages of the format of Pravda, with a large portrait of Marx, along with several articles 188. With detailed announcements about Pravda and Prosveshcheniye. It would probably pay for itself with a print run of 25-30 thousand and bring in some income. If you agree, telegraph: "Compose" (we will then start writing) and, in addition, write in more detail.

TO M. A. SAVELIEV. FEBRUARY 22, 1913

a reply. Please respond two or three times a week with a few lines about which articles you have received and which are coming.

In my opinion, you did entirely correctly to publish Dneprovsky in full - for a start 189. But in the future, such long (and such poor) articles should be held back and correspondence started about submitting them to Prosveshcheniye.

Yours, I.
