«Der Weg des Elekrotrusts» by Kurt Heinig (Berlin). (Neue Zeit 1912 (28/VI 1912), 30th Year, Vol. 2, p. 474)
An excellent illustration of imperialism:
In 1907, an agreement was concluded between A.E.G. (Allgemeine Elektrizitäts-Gesellschaft) (General Electric Society) and G.E.C. (General Electric Company)
on the division of the world:
G.E.C. [America] United States and Canada

Special agreements (secret) regarding subsidiary companies. "In addition, mutual exchange of inventions and experiences!" (p. 475)

The number of societies (mostly joint-stock companies) in which G.E.S. is "predominantly interested" is 176 — 200 (p. 484). In six main ones, the capital amounts to about a billion, but in all it should be approximately 1.12 billion marks.
NB
Characteristic of modern industry is the production of raw materials etc. by the same enterprise.
1) The number of direct foreign representatives of G.E.S. = 34 (of which 12 are joint-stock companies)
Number of "Fabrikationsgesellschaften" — 46 production of rubber, — cables, — quartz lamps — insulators — railway signals — automobiles — typewriters — aircraft, etc.

* This calculation, relating to the total turnover of goods of G.E.C. and G.E.S. together for 1910 and 1911 (see p. 324), is attributed and circled in pencil in the manuscript. Ed.
