For Vasilyev

6/XII.

Dear friend, regarding the 9th of January it is extremely important to think over and prepare the matter in advance. A leaflet must be ready in advance with a call for meetings, a one-day strike and demonstrations (this must be decided on the spot, the local comrades know best) 137. We must “correct” the mistake of 15 November, correct it against the opportunists, of course 138. The slogans of the leaflet must be the three main revolutionary ones (republic, 8-hour working day and confiscation of the landed estates) with special emphasis on the 300th anniversary of the “shame” of the Romanov dynasty. If there is no complete and absolute certainty that it will be possible to have the leaflet in Petersburg, it must be prepared here in advance, in good time, and brought there. The insolence of the Liquidators on the question of Jagiello is unparalleled. If we have all six from the worker curia, we cannot silently submit to some Siberians. The six must absolutely come out with a most sharp protest, if they are outvoted, print the protest in *Den* and declare that they appeal to the rank and file, to the workers’ organisations. The Liquidators want to inflate their majority and push through a split with the Polish Social-Democracy. Will the representatives of the workers of six worker gubernias really submit to Skobelev and Co. or to an accidental Siberian? 139 Write more often, more, and in greater detail.

The articles in *Luch* against strikes are the height of baseness. We must come out sharply, illegally. Write soon which of the plans you have outlined for such an action you are settling on.

Greetings.

P. S. Return the document—it is inconvenient to live by it, the owner may be in Petersburg.
