17. XI. 12.

Dear comrade!

I have just sent you a telegram concerning our acceptance of the combination agreed upon by you with Rubanovich.

We ask you to present to the commission for its information our position, if we diverge from you on the following point.

Kautsky's article in No. 6 of *Neue Zeit*, following the October session of the ISB, is clearly the official opinion of the Germans, Austrians, and others. We categorically disagree with the central point of this article (pp. 191-192, from the words *Dabei müssen* to *heischenden Massen* in particular).

It turns out from Kautsky that there is a renunciation precisely of the revolutionary mass strike. This is inadmissible both from the Russian point of view (100,000 political strikers now in Petersburg with revolutionary meetings and sympathy for the sailors' uprising!) and from the general European one. Incidentally, you know our point of view from the literature, and I hope you will not refuse to have a conversation with comrade Kamenev.

Our delegate to the ISB is comrade Kamenev (M. Rosenfeld. 11. Rue Roli. 11. Paris. XIV).

* — Must be. Ed.

** — demanding masses. Ed.

Please telegraph him if you are not going, and if you are going, see him before the commission in Basel (M. Rosenfeld. Poste Restante. Bale).

If, contrary to expectations, you are not going, please submit in writing your vote for the choice (Rubanovich or Kamenev) to the commission.

Ready to be of service
