Dear K.! I have not been following the recent world congresses. I heard about the participation of socialists and about its opportunist character, but only heard about it.

I shall not venture to speak decisively on this question without having read reports from at least one congress. The question is complex. It is beyond doubt that the general growth of opportunism and the "equilibration" of its forces with revolutionary social democracy in the major countries of the workers' movement (Germany) must have its effect here as well. Let Bebel engage in diplomacy with the opportunists—if that is necessary (???), but this is not becoming for us. That is all I can say for now.

Regards to comrade Olga and all friends—including Gorin. How is he getting on? What is your news? What are your relations with Plekhanov? Do you have conversations with him?

Kamenev will be in Switzerland in the autumn with a report—he is here now—on his way to Paris. I may gather myself to go in the winter.

Regards! Your Lenin
