V. I. LENIN – LEO TYSZKO.
For Tyszko.
28.III.10 [Paris].
Dear Comrade!
Thank you for sending Rosa Luxemburg's articles.
But regarding the main question—the proposal to replace Varski 1) with X—I must protest in the most decisive way. Have mercy, you are putting us in the most impossible position! I will not talk about X's personal characteristics (how much they stood out *) during joint work at congresses and conferences: the impressions at these congresses did not testify at all to knowledge, abilities, literary tastes, understanding of the matter, but often testified to petty fault-finding etc. etc. — I am writing to you also, of course, *privatissime* 2). I will not talk about the fact that you cannot replace an experienced writer, a smart Marxist, and an excellent comrade with an inexperienced and unsuitable person.
But I will talk about the situation of the editorial board of the Central] 0[rgan] in the party crisis. It cannot be that you do not see that the situation is critical.
Varski and I are writing to the Central] Committee about a change in the composition of the Central] 0[rgan] (Dan is clearly disrupting it).
The liquidators are disrupting the Central] Committee.
And at such a time, when a person who was at the plenum, tested in work, accustomed to the collegium, and who has started a serious war with a serious enemy is absolutely necessary—at such a time to replace him with a newcomer!! For God's sake—this means paralyzing the Central] 0[rgan]!!
After all, the Central] 0[rgan] remains for now the only organ
