The reader recalls the brief but instructive history of the "party" school in NN. Here is that history. The Bolshevik faction, after a year of internal struggle, resolutely separates itself from the "new" currents — recallism, ultimatism, and god-building. The Bolshevik Conference, in a special resolution, declares the school in NN to be the center of a new faction of supporters of these currents.[16] The foreign leaders of the new faction, built upon these three pillars, split off from the Bolsheviks organizationally. Displaying extraordinary political courage and unshakeable faith in their position, the heroes of the new faction do not dare to come out openly in their own organ and so forth. Instead, they choose the path of simple deception of the party and faction: they establish a foreign school, which they call a "party" school, and carefully conceal its true ideological character. After a series of efforts, they manage to bring some 13 workers to this pseudo-party school, whom there begins to "instruct" a group consisting of Maximov, Aleksinsky, Lyadov, and Lunacharsky. Throughout this time, this company not only conspires about the fact that the "school" is the center of a new faction, but strains to emphasize that the "school" is connected with no faction whatsoever, but is an all-party undertaking. Maximov, Aleksinsky, Lyadov and Co. — in the role of "non-factional" comrades!..[17]

And, finally, now — the final stage. Of the workers who came to the pseudo-party school, about half begin a rebellion against these "false shepherds." Below we publish two letters from students of the notorious "school" and several reports from Moscow, which completely expose the adventure of Maximov — Aleksinsky — Lyadov and Co. Everything described in them speaks for itself. Here all is present: both the "pitched battle" and the "most desperate polemics every day," and the instructor Aleksinsky sticking his tongue out at the worker listeners, and so forth. In grandiose reports of the school, all this will probably be transformed into "practical classes" on questions of agitation and propaganda, into a course "on social worldviews," and so on. But, alas, now no one will believe this wretched, shameful farce!

For two months the leaders of the new faction whispered in the workers' ears about the advantages of recallism and god-building over revolutionary Marxism. And then they could not restrain themselves and began openly pressing upon them with a recallist-ultimatist "platform." And the most advanced and independent workers, of course, protested. We do not wish to be a screen for a new ideological center of recallists and god-builders; the school is controlled neither "from below" nor "from above" — say the worker comrades in their letters. And this is the best guarantee that among party workers the policy of playing at hide-and-seek and demagogical "democratism" will inevitably go bankrupt. — The local organizations themselves will manage the school in NN — Maximov and Co. told the workers. Now this game has been exposed by those very workers who previously believed this company.

In conclusion — one request, you divine recallists. When you in your god-saved Tsarevokokshaisk finish — let us hope you do finish — the working out of your platform, do not hide it from us, following the example of your past mode of conduct. Sooner or later, with greater or lesser delay, we shall obtain it in any case and publish it in the party press. So it would be better not to disgrace yourselves an extra time.
