[Between January 7 and February 2, 1908. Geneva.]1
Dear Pyotr! I have a request to make of you. I have written a lengthy work on the question of the agrarian program, in which I examined, among other things, in detail the debates of the Second Duma. There is a shortage of certain documents submitted to the Second Duma. Specifically: Mushenko submitted a draft by the 104 or 105, not that “well-known” Trudovik draft of the First Duma, which was repeated in the Second, but a new, Socialist-Revolutionary one.3 It was reprinted in French in the Rapport du parti S. R. au congrès de Stuttgart.* Do you have the Russian text? Could you obtain it? You would greatly oblige me if you could help. Was it published as a separate edition? Where and when?
Yours, V. Ulyanov.
[Postscript by N. K. Krupskaya.]
Dear Pyotr! Everything here is as before, i.e., complete uncertainty. We are awaiting letters from Adler and Yuzef** about Austria; until these letters arrive, nothing can be undertaken, as our people are very much opposed to Geneva. We have sent for money from Russia—we have nothing with us—and until it arrives, nothing can be undertaken either. In general, there are no letters at all from Russia... we sit and languish waiting for them.
Some things are becoming clearer here. It has turned out (!) that we have our own typesetting machine4 (which reduces the cost of premises and simplifies matters), which we had completely forgotten; we can buy Russian paper for an inexpensive price. For the head of the dispatch department, the people are proposing Mikhalenko;*** he has a suitable appearance. As for Tatyana Ivanovna,**** I had assumed that we would conduct relations with Russia together with her. How does she feel about this? Here we need a person who is absolutely a party member, entirely one of our own.
