Dear Anatoly Vasilyevich!

Again and again I remind you about Ferry. If you haven't sent it yet, this is simply a disaster!

Then we would very much like to commission from you for the 3rd (23rd) issue of Proletariat (the jubilee issue) a short article on the Paris Commune of 1871¹. Perhaps you have the new book by Jaurès and Dubreuil—though it is scarcely likely that these gentlemen could correctly evaluate the Commune². Here the letters of Marx to Kugelmann, which we have discussed with you more than once, must absolutely be mentioned and quoted again as an instruction to opportunists.

The length of this jubilee article—15,000 letters maximum. Deadline—next Wednesday (4. III). Please answer immediately whether you will send it.

Send it!

Pressing your hand. Your Lenin.

¹ The article on the Paris Commune by Lunacharsky was not written.
² Lenin has in mind the book by Louis Dubreuil *La commune (1871)* in the series by J. Jaurès *Histoire socialiste* (1789-1900). 120. Paris. 1908. In the same year the book, in the translation of N. S. Tyutchev, was published in Russian in Petersburg.
