AMENDMENTS TO A. BOGDANOV'S DRAFT RESOLUTION
ON THE SPLINTER GROUP FROM THE PARTY1
[Not later than May 5 (April 22), 1905]
The Congress states that in the R. S. D. party, since its
struggle against Economism, shades related to it have persisted to this
day in varying degrees and in varying relations, charac-
terized by a general tendency to belittle the significance of elements
of consciousness in the proletarian struggle, subordinating them to elements
of spontaneity. In the organizational question, the representatives of these shades
theoretically put forward the principle of organization-
as-process, which is inconsistent with the systematically structured work of the party,
while in practice, in the majority of cases, they pursue a system
of deviations from party discipline, and in other cases, addressing
the least conscious part of the party with the preaching of a broad
application of the elective principle, disregarding the objective conditions of Russian reality,
they are trying to undermine the only conditions of party ties possible at the present time.
In tactical questions, they manifest themselves by a desire to
narrow the scope of party work, speaking out against a fully
independent party tactic towards the liberal- bourgeois parties, against the possibility and desirability for
our party to take on the organizing role in the popular
uprising, against the party's participation under any conditions in a provisional democratic-revolutionary government.
The Congress proposes that all members of the party everywhere wage an energetic ideological struggle against such partial deviations from [strict revolutionary social-democratism] the principles of revolutionary social-democracy, but at the same time finds
that the participation of persons adhering to some extent or other to such

AMENDMENTS TO A. BOGDANOV'S DRAFT RESOLUTION views, in party organizations is [fully] permissible
on the necessary condition that they, recognizing party
congresses, the party statute, fully submit to party discipline.
1 The resolution was adopted by the Congress on May 6, 1905, and only in the phrase "conditions of party ties" was the word "conditions" replaced with "foundations" (see Works, VII, 435).
