"I. I. Petrunkevich expressed the opinion that now, after the gracious reception by the Sovereign of the deputation of zemstvo and city activists and the clearly benevolent reply to their petition for the convocation of popular representatives, the question of resolutions and petitions falls away, and one should now prepare for the forthcoming electoral assembly"...

St. Petersburg, extraordinary district zemstvo assembly resolved to request the governor to bring to the notice of His Imperial Majesty that the St. Petersburg district zemstvo "experiences a feeling of deepest joy on account of the remarkable words," etc.

The Simbirsk Exchange Society on June 10 sent a telegram to S. N. Trubetskoy: ... "gratitude ... for the holy truth expressed before the face of His Imperial Majesty."

Kharkov. Members of the council of the Congress of Mining Industrialists of Southern Russia sent a telegram to S. N. Trubetskoy: ... "Deep gratitude ... to the persons who reported directly to the Sovereign ... we greet you as the chosen representatives of the Russian land, through whom the voice of the people in firm and truthful form has for the first time reached the Sovereign" ... ("we consider this event a sure pledge of the realization of a new era of our state life") ... *Russkiye Vedomosti*, June 12, 1905.

"*Birzhevyye Vedomosti* reports that Comrade Minister of Internal Affairs, St. Petersburg Governor-General Trepov, after the reception (by the Tsar) visited at the Hotel France the member of the deputation S.
