Geneva, October 27, 1905

Dear Comrade, You sent us on June 28 a proposal from comrade Bebel regarding the disagreements in our party.

On July 24 I wrote to you that I could not give you a reply on behalf of the Central Committee of our party, since I am only one of the members of the committee, and I asked the Bureau to give me some clarifications*. In response I received a letter from Comrade Guésde dated August 5, in which he writes that the intervention of the Executive Committee is intended only to have a moral effect. I immediately informed the Central Committee of our party of the exact meaning of Bebel's proposal. At present I have received the reply of the Central

Committee, which accepts your proposal and appoints as its representatives comrades Vasiliev, Schmidt, and Lenin. Comrade Schmidt is in Russia. Therefore we must know in advance the date set for the conference (at least three weeks beforehand).

The other two delegates are in Switzerland.

Accept, etc.

V. Ulyanov (Lenin)

P. S. Just now I have received another letter with notification that comrade Schmidt will arrive soon (probably in November) abroad, in order to settle many matters concerning our party. Therefore it would be extremely important for me to receive as soon as possible an answer from the other faction of our party regarding the date for convening the conference. For members of our party working in Russia, travel abroad is extremely difficult, therefore it is desirable that the date for convening the conference be set now, i.e., that the other faction and members of the International Bureau inform us as soon as possible of when they wish to convene this conference.
