168 On June 17 (30), 1905 in Kursk, an officer was burned in a railway car by an enraged crowd in revenge for the murder of a soldier.

169 The list on the left represents an enumeration of cities in which clashes between workers and troops or soldier uprisings in military units took place.

3. At the center of these events – Odessa. Is this the first victory of the revolution? Unfortunately, not yet, although an enormous step forward.

4. Military and political leadership – that is what was lacking. There is an abyss of heroism and enthusiasm. Even military forces exist.

5. Military leadership as a revolutionary army. The concept. The challenge has been issued by the autocracy. The organization of civil war.

170 This section of the sixth point of the plan did not find reflection in the article "Revolutionary Army and Revolutionary Government" and was developed by Lenin in another article – "The Bourgeoisie Haggles with the Autocracy, the Autocracy Haggles with the Bourgeoisie" (see the present volume, pp. 352–354).

7. Gredeskul on disobedience to the government{152}.

8. The significance of revolutionary power.

9. The inconsistency of the *Iskra* slogan: doctrine gets in the way.

(1) Uprising – Cite from "What Is To Be Done?" – Compare with the conference. – Recognize it as a further step. Odessa teaches.

(2) Provisional government. – *Iskra* leaflet. – Doctrine gets in the way{153}.

173 In the article to these five slogans a sixth is added: the eight-hour working day (see the present volume, p. 342). – 404.

α) Generalization of uprisings on a nationwide scale – revolutionary army.

β) National, nationwide organization of uprising = provisional revolutionary government.

– propaganda in leaflets

– " at all mass meetings and assemblies

– bold initiative in action. Slogans of revolutionary struggle alone are insufficient; what are needed are slogans of leadership and revolutionary power.

Of course, revolutionary power will not take shape all at once. It cannot be decreed, appointed; it must win recognition for itself. But one must make attempts, one must conquer, begin to conquer.
