The document constitutes a letter from the Central Committee of the RSDLP to the Foreign League of Russian Revolutionary Social Democracy with an inquiry about the latter's attitude towards the 3rd Congress (sent immediately after the Congress in May 1905).
From Lenin's article "A Third Step Back" (Coll. Works, Vol.
VII,
p. 567) and from "Proletary" No. 8 (section "From the Party") it is evident,
that no reply to this letter followed.

V. I. LENIN — TO THE FOREIGN LEAGUE.
[May 1905]

Esteemed comrades!
We are sending you notification of the 3rd Congress of the RSDLP. Please inform us of your attitude towards the 3rd Congress and the party center created by it.

With social-democratic greetings, Central Committee.

P. S. We would very much appreciate it if you could give us a reply within two weeks. In the absence of a reply, we will have to consider the League as not recognizing the 3rd Congress) *). Of course, the indicated period can be extended by us if necessary.

*) Here, an unknown hand has made a footnote: "for the signature of your representative on a certain letter to the delegates of the 3rd Congress leads one to assume this."
