20. 5. 05.

Dear Sir!

I acknowledge with gratitude the receipt of £25 sterling, of which £5 will, in accordance with the conditions you have set, be used for relief. All your donations are mentioned in our newspaper 'Vpered', which we have sent to you. I am now again sending you those issues of this newspaper in which the donations are mentioned, and I have marked these passages with a blue pencil.

We have already written to the St. Petersburg Committee of the Russian Social-Democratic Labour Party that it is necessary to make a report at several workers' meetings about the donations received from the 'Committee of Workers' Representation'. Since all communication with our Party organizations is secret, some time will be required before a reply is received. This week several Russian comrades are leaving for St. Petersburg, and I have repeated my request to them. They promised to take all measures to ensure that this report is made as soon as possible in St. Petersburg, and to inform you. Your letter of 22. IV. 05 will also be forwarded to the St. Petersburg Committee.

I hope, dear sir, that you will soon receive a letter from our comrades in Petersburg with an account of the report made at a workers' meeting in the Russian capital.

I beg your pardon for my poor English.

With heartfelt gratitude, sincerely yours,
Vl. Ulyanov (editor of 'Vpered')
