In Ekaterinoslav.
[April 1905]

Dear Comrade!

We will answer your letter in detail in the coming days. For now we are sending you only the following in haste: if there are organizers on the Bolshevik side, then immediately do one of two things: 1) send a letter in their name to the congress with an expression of protest against the committee and a desire to participate in the congress; 2) if you can find 50 rubles and a person, then send a delegate to us (our address is in Geneva) at once, having written him a mandate in our cipher.

Until then, goodbye. We will write again in the coming days. See that you do not delay and try to carry out our request immediately — the second option is better than the first*).

*) Vladimir Ilyich's letter was sent in reply to a letter from Fedia (Shvarts) from Ekaterinoslav, received in Geneva on 31 March 1905. (Shvarts' letter is in the archive of the Lenin Institute.) In his letter, Comrade Shvarts informed [us] that he had succeeded, despite the schemes of the Mensheviks, in establishing firm connections with workers, and that in his central circle there were some 7-8 organizers from among the workers.
