V. I. LENIN — TO THE ODESSA COMMITTEE
OF THE R.S.D.L.P.
To the Odessa Committee from Lenin, [April 1905]
Dear friends! I would like to talk to you about delegates to the congress. If you are sending from Russia, then my
letter is void. But I heard that you are thinking of giving a mandate
to one of the local ones. If this rumor is true, then I would allow
myself to advise giving the mandate to both of your local candidates, i.e., both Josephine [V. V. Vorovsky] and Daniel [D. I. Novomirsky] *), namely: to one of them with a decisive
vote and to the other — with an advisory one (i.e., write a letter to the congress
that the Odessa Committee asks the congress to allow, with an advisory vote, first Josephine [V. V. Vorovsky], as a member
of the southern bureau, a very useful worker in an advisory capacity,
or, I say as an example, second Daniel [D. I. Novomirsky], as excellently
knowing the periphery and remarkably energetically working among the Odessa proletariat.
One can be sure that the congress will respect such a request
of the committee. Please read this letter to all members of the committee and answer me. P. S. Are you bringing workers into the Committee?
This is necessary, absolutely necessary! Why don't you connect
us directly with the workers? Not a single worker is writing
to "Vpered". This is a scandal. We absolutely need dozens of worker correspondents. I would very much ask that this
