A few days ago, a legal newspaper expressed the view that now is not the time to point out the “contradictions” of interests of the various classes opposing the autocracy. This view is not new. We encounter it in the pages of *Osvobozhdeniye* and *Revolutsionnaya Rossiya*, with certain reservations, of course. Naturally, such a view prevails among representatives of bourgeois democracy. As for Social-Democrats, there cannot be two opinions on this question among them. The joint struggle of the proletariat and the bourgeoisie against the autocracy must not and cannot make the proletariat forget the hostile antithesis of its interests and those of the propertied classes. And the elucidation of this antithesis necessarily demands an elucidation of the profound differences between the views of the various trends. From this it by no means follows, of course, that we should renounce the temporary agreements with adherents of other trends which the Second Congress of our Party deemed permissible for Social-Democrats, both with the Socialist-Revolutionaries
