NOTE ON THE LETTER OF THE ISKRAITES TO GAPON

RESOLUTION OF THE CENTRAL COMMITTEE OF FEBRUARY 7, 190o G /
[February 20 (7), 1905. Moscow.]
Taking into account
1) that Comrade Lenin for about a year has *de facto* not been taking
any part in the work of the Central Committee
2) that in recent months this evasion of cooperation
has turned into a systematic campaign against the Central Committee, accom-
panying a series of attempts to disorganize all party work in general, since it is based on the Party Charter, adopted by the II Congress and
that, finally, despite all this, Comrade Lenin has still
not declared his withdrawal from the Central Committee,
The Central Committee resolves not to consider Comrade Lenin among its
members, nor a member of the Party Council, and to bring this resolution
to the attention of Comrade Lenin and the Party Council.
Lenin's speech at the I II Congress on May 6, 1905, outlines
the history of Lenin's negotiations with Gapon on the convocation of a con-
ference of socialist parties and on the attitude of the
editors of Iskra towards it (see Works, vol. VII, p. 288; on the conference itself,
see note *133 in the same volume, pp. 467-469). Lenin's note
below was used by him for the aforementioned speech at the congress.
* NOTE ON THE LETTER OF THE ISKRAITES TO GAPON.
17. III. 05. [Geneva]
The letter of the Iskraites to Gapon, shown to me yesterday by Gapon,
was dated II . III. 05, signed by Martov and reads approximately
*mot à peu prés*): We did not give our consent to the conference. We already answered you earlier that in principle we have nothing
against a military agreement for an uprising, but we consider
more desirable direct relations for this purpose between organized parties. The address of Iskra for those appearing
at the conference was given to you without any agreement.
