V.I.Lenin's Draft with G.V.Plekhanov's revision

Having familiarized ourselves with the most important of the documents presented by1*Comrade Mitrov, and having taken part in several meetings of the board (consisting of 5 members of the editorial board and 2 members of the administration), we, the undersigned2*members3*of the editorial board, have come to the conclusion that we4*must submit a dissenting opinion on this5*issue.

We find that the case raised6* by comrade Mitrov is7* a purely personal matter, arising8* under quite exceptional circumstances. It9* cannot and, in our firm conviction, should not be dealt with by any revolutionary organization in general. In particular, for our part, we see at the present time no10* grounds whatsoever for bringing against11* N. E. Bauman13*, a member of the Russian12* organization of Iskra,13* an accusation of any morally reprehensible act or conduct14*.

This dissenting opinion is being communicated only to all members of the editorial board and administration of the League15* and to N.E. Bauman.

1What immoral act V.I. Mitrov accused N.E. Bauman of has not been established. It is known that in September 1902 Bauman met with Lenin after his successful escape from Lukyanovsky prison in Kiev among 10 escaped Social-Democrats. Prior to that, Bauman had been living in Berlin.

The discussion took place at a meeting of the editorial board of Iskra in London.
